Stream of mercy flow
that in this heart of mine
fragrant flowers may grow
perfumed with Love divine.
Ray of love doth shine
that in my inmost soul,
may spring a garden fine
arrayed in Beauty bold.
Wind of grace doth blow
that in the forest pine
trees dance to and fro
swayed by Life sublime.
Commentary:
Christ Jesus, the Only-Begotten Son of God and Son of Man, is the Stream of mercy that flows down from the heights of heavenly glory and riches into the valley of our earthly lowliness and poverty. By His willful assuming of our impoverished state, His mercy became the cause for fragrant flowers, perfumed with that Love divine, to grow out of the ground of our barren hearts upwards toward the skies.
God the Father is the Ray of love that shines everlastingly from the pinnacle of the heavens with radiant light penetrating all of the darkened corners of this earth, as well as our souls, in which we hide. Penetrated by His Light, then, we come out of hiding and into His vineyard where we set our hearts and hands to work on cultivating the land and making a garden spring to life, most finely arrayed in His Beauty bold.
God the Holy Spirit is the Wind of grace that ceaselessly moves about the world, preserving the life-breath of every creature. Thus, He so animates and causes everything in and around us, even the forest pines, to dance about to and fro with the sublimity of eternal life.
