Enlighten the darkness of our hearts,
O Divine Blaze of Fire,
O Lover of Mankind!
Unify our hearts,
gathering us together
from the furthest corners
of this divided world,
O sweet Breath of Life,
O gentle Voice of God!
Without light,
how can our hearts be unified?
Without a unified heart,
how can we ever come
to do anything good,
true and beautiful
for Your greater glory!
Without You, O God,
all the good desires of our hearts
rot in the darkness
and remain imprisoned
as exiles in a scattered, divided land
that only breeds contempt for You.
Come then, O Gracious One
and set the captives free...
bring us out of Egypt
through the sea and the desert
to our proper place of rest
in that Promised Land.
A land filled
with light,
a land teaming
with life,
a land flowing
with milk and honey,
a land espoused
by love divine,
a land unified
under Your Most Holy Name.
